1970 Cutlass Supreme SX 2Dr Hardtop
Diane writes...
"This car was purchased new from the showroom floor at Lehmer's Oldsmobile in Concord, California, by my mother in 1970. She was convinced that this was the most beautiful car ever made and it was hers.
"She drove it until she had a stroke in 1987. Thereafter I became the driver. Ultimately I inherited the car and have been delighted with it ever since.
"The car has a big-block Rocket 445 V8 engine (455 cid)—one of the reasons they call Oldsmobiles rockets. This car is equipped with the Code Y-79 high-performance SX option package.
"It runs really well. In 2002 I drove it from Walnut Creek, California, to Lansing, Michigan, up into the lower part of Canada, and back across the border to Buffalo, New York. From there I drove to Washington, D.C., then to New Orleans, Louisiana, and from there to Cheyenne, Wyoming to pick up I-80 and return home to Walnut Creek. I drove 10,300+ miles and never had any engine problems nor even a flat tire! This is a great car!!!
"The color of the car is called Aegean Blue. When I had it repainted a few years ago it was necessary to have the paint specially mixed according to General Motors specifications in order for it to be the correct color.
"Today the car has 203,000+ miles on it and it still runs well. I drive it frequently and always enjoy the ride. It is very comfortable to sit in, even for all-day driving. It turns easily, particularly for a U-turn, and it has plenty of speed.
"All in all, I give my mother credit for picking out a super car."
