Dan bought this car in Walnut Creek, CA, in December 1983. He initially restored it with a 455 ci engine, new upholstery and red paint, and entered it in the 1986 Oldsmobile Nationals in Santa Clara, CA. After driving it to the 2005 Olds Nationals in Seattle, WA, the engine was replaced with a Mondello 470 ci 530 hp engine.

What's a Mondello engine, our webmaster asks? Dan explains...

"I bought a short block from Mondello Performance Products, Inc (Paso Robles, CA) and added the top end which I had on my previous 455 ci Olds engine. The completed engine has the following specifications.

- 455 ci Olds engine bored out to 470 ci
- Dual Quad Carburetor Setup
- Aluminum RPM Performance Heads Cryogenically Hardened
- Zero Gap Piston Rings
- Complete Engine Balance
- Engle MPV-1-2 Pro Street Solid Lifter Cam
- 8 Quart High Capacity Oiling System
- 1970 442 Headers
